Hair transplant in Nepal

A hair transplant is a process in which a Plastic surgeon or Dermatological surgeon moves hair to a bald area of the head. It is usually moved from the back or side of the head to the front or top of the head. Hair transplants basically occur under local anesthesia in a medical office.

When it comes to treating baldness and hair loss, hair transplant  is a long-lasting and reliable treatment option. In this procedure, hair follicles are removed  from areas where there are many hairs like scalp or other body parts. These areas are known as “donor sites”. After this, the hair follicle from the donor is implanted in the bald area and this is called the recipient site.

Over a period of time, significant progress has been made which has proven this treatment to be safe, reliable, permanent. Nowadays, minimally invasive hair transplantation methods are available. The beard, moustache, and even eyebrows are the areas where implantation is possible. All thanks to the doctors.

Why do I need to get a hair transplant?

Hair transplants are performed  to add hair to an area on your head that may be thinning or balding by taking hair from thicker parts of the scalp, or other body parts. Then,  grafting it to the scalp where the thinning or balding section is.  If we consider over-the-counter hair restoration products, and hair transplants, the latter is  more successful. Some factors need to be considered.

How fast can I see the Hair Transplantation’s result?

In an estimated three to four months, anywhere from 10 to 80 percent of transplanted hair from a trusted source will fully grow back.

Dormant hair follicles of people which include sacs and hair beneath the skin but no longer grow hair may have less effective transplants, but a 2016 study Trusted Source showed that plasma therapy is very helpful and it can help up to 75 percent or more of the transplanted hairs fully grow back.

Methodology of Hair Transplant in Nepal:

The doctors use a number of  techniques for this procedure. The most common methods are:

FUT ( Follicular Unit Transplantation)

FUE ( Follicular Unit Extraction)

The major difference between the two methods is the way hair follicles are extracted from the donor area.

1. Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT):

Follicular Unit Transplantation was established and standardized hair transplant method which was the first hair transplant method in the world. The following steps are followed in this process,

  • Follicular extraction:

The doctor removes a strip containing hair follicles which are 6 to 10 inches from the patient’s scalp. The strip is taken from behind the scalp in most of the cases.

  • Graft fragmentation:

The donor strip area is surgically stitched . Later the donor follicular strip is divided by doctors into several smaller fragments called grafts. The scalp of the donor can be divided into 2,000 grafts, some of which may only contain single hair.

  • Preparation of a recipient site:

The doctor uses a scalpel or needle to make a small incision in the recipient area.

  • Grafting:

Then, the smaller pieces of follicles are inserted into the incision very carefully. After the implantation of the donor hair follicle; the surgical sites are closed with bandage or gauze.

2. Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE):

There is a difference in the extraction or harvest of hair follicles as compared to FUT.

Extraction:

In the process of extraction, first, the doctor shaves the donor section and separately extracts the hair follicles outside the donor scalp. In Follicular Unit Extraction, the process includes a circular section with a diameter of 0.7 mm to 0.8 mm.

Grafting: Just like  the FUT procedure, the doctor prepares a recipient site with a small round hole and implants the donor hair follicles. Then the operating area is closed with a bandage or gauze.

Advantages of the FUE method are :

Doctors extract individual follicular units from a smaller incision in the donor area. It ensures minimal scalp damage at the site from which the hair was taken.

FUT is more invasive than this.

FUE  gives the hair a finer and natural aesthetic effect but it is possible only  when  highly qualified doctors do it. Patients restore hairlines, temples, sides, and even eyebrows with the help of this.
